What skills and experience we're looking for

Millthorpe School is seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced science tutor to support our students develop their skills.

Applicants should have experience of teaching science at secondary level. Experience of developing and delivering intervention programmes to support the progress of targeted groups of students would be an advantage.

Tutoring is proposed to take place with small groups (up to 3 students), during the school day. Each student is expected to attend a series of 15 weekly 1-hour sessions. The focus of the sessions is to make a rapid impact on students' science knowledge and understanding, to improve their progress in the subject. The programme follows the government's agenda to offer additional support to counteract the negative impact of the pandemic.

The postholder will be expected to:

• devise and deliver an effective programme of tutoring intervention in science, appropriate for disadvantaged students in Years 7-11
• record inputs and outcomes, and evaluate the impact of the programme for each student
• liaise with senior and middle leaders to ensure the programme complements the students' existing curriculum
