1-1 SEN Intervention Learning Support Assistant

Grade 5 Pay Point 7-8 (£24,407 - £24,794).

Approx. starting salary of £18,342 based on working:

32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Fixed term until 20 August 2025

Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 15:30pm (inclusive of a 30 minute unpaid lunch break)

Farndon Fields Primary School are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Assistant who will work under the supervision of the SENDCo and SLT to deliver intervention sessions for pupils with special educational needs, across all year groups of the school.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work under the supervision of SENDCo and SLT to provide care and encouragement to children and young people with disabilities or special educational needs, supporting them to participate in activities and liaising, if required, with parents / carers / other professionals as appropriate.
  • To use initiative in supporting pupils in a 1:1 or small group setting, delivering SALT interventions in line with professional advice, as well as encouraging communication, language and interaction strategies for pupils to suit their needs, providing feedback on their engagement in activities and their achievement of the desired learning objectives.
  • To support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of pupils, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs.
  • To prepare and support the use of learning materials, adapting them as necessary to meet the needs of the designated pupil(s), taking on board advice from SENCO, SLT and external professionals.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ 2 in support Teaching and Learning, or Equivalent OR able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 2 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
  • Experience in delivering interventions in SALT, communication, interaction and language.
  • Experience of working with special educational needs pupils, including ASD or similar pathways.
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
