1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant
Fixed Term contract until 31st August 2025
Salary: Thurrock Band A Point 1-6
(£17,230.51 - £18,442.54 Actual salary per annum)
32 hours 5 minutes per week
Monday – Friday 8:30am – 3:25pm (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break)
37 weeks of the year – term time only

Little Thurrock Primary School wishes to appoint a SEN Learning Support Assistant who has experience, or an interest, in supporting children with special educational needs, such as autism on a one to one basis. You will have a passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey. You will need to have an understanding of the subjects that you support the children in, be able to demonstrate a fair attitude and apply rules consistently. You will be resilient and have excellent de-escalation skills. The ideal candidate will be able to nurture supportive relationships and be able to demonstrate a practical, hands-on approach to support teaching.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- The ability to communicate with other members of staff effectively
- The ability to build a strong professional relationship with the children and their families
- A willingness to take part in class planning and adapt it to the needs of the child where applicable
- Good organisational skills
- Good behaviour management skills
- Good basic English and Mathematics (GCSE 4-9 or equivalent preferable)
- The ability to communicate with parents and to attend professional meetings when required
- Good record keeping skills (Progress and medical where required)
- Personal Care
- A passion for the impact teaching and learning can have on improving life
- A commitment to supporting the delivering of education of the highest standard
