What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant who is enthusiastic and patient. The role will be working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant with a child in Year 1 with complex needs.
The role involves supporting a child who has an EHCP who is currently not accessing the mainstream classroom. Experience of working with young children with a variety of special educational needs and knowledge of the nursery curriculum would be advantageous.
Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO we would expect you to also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate.
We require an organised professional who has:
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- High standard of English and Maths
- Level 2/3 in Teaching and Learning in School (or equivalent)
- The ability to liaise with staff, parents and professionals, offering support and challenge as appropriate.
- The ability to work using your own initiative at a highly professional level.
- A secure knowledge of safeguarding.
- A thorough understanding of differing needs and vulnerability of children.
- A belief in inclusion, diversity and the right of each child to be successful whatever their needs, abilities and background.
- Ability to work as part of a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed team.
Salary will be paid at Aquila Pay Level B - FTE £23,615.00 (approx £16,189 per annum)
Term Time Only Contract - Working Hours30 hrs per week, 8:30am-3pm with 1/2 hr unpaid lunch break

You employed on a temporary basis for the purpose of providing support for a pupil enrolled at the school up until such time this pupil ceases needing your support, this pupil leaving the School (either voluntarily or be subject to permanent exclusion), or the funding allocated to this pupil ceasing (currently 31.08.2025).
