1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary
For this post, you must be a patient, calm, resilient Teaching Assistant who is positive and has a good sense of humour. Experience of working with SEND pupils with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) would be an advantage. The perfect candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working collaboratively and independently when required and able to maintain a professional attitude when faced with difficult behaviour associated with SEMH. You will need to be flexible and be willing to undertake a variety of play based and learning activities with the pupil and be able to flex these according to the needs of the pupil in the moment.
The hours will be approximately 20 hours per week (likely to be Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8.45-3.30pm- with a 30 minute lunch break) Term time only, plus 5 INSET days per year. This is a fixed term contract linked to a child's Education, Health, Care plan.
You will be based within a mainstream Lower School, supporting a child with social and emotional difficulties and language, understanding and cognitive difficulties. Therefore, previous experience working with pupils with similar difficulties would be desirable. Start date will be as soon as possible. Visits to the school are welcomed.
