1-1 Teaching Assistant Level 2 job summary
Teaching Assistant Level 2 required from December 2021 to support a Year 1 pupil who has additional needs linked to Down’s Syndrome.
16.15 hours per week as follows : Monday to Friday 8.45am to 12 noon
Term-Time Only
This position is funded as per the pupil’s EHCP
Support required for :-
Mobility support
Moving and Handling
Intimate Care (toileting)
Speech and Language (including Makaton support)
Feeding support
Physiotherapy support
Sensory breaks
Liaison with professional services ie Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language
Experience of SEN support is essential. Experience of EYFS (Early Years) support would be an advantage as this pupil continues to access the EYFS curriculum as a Year 1. Moving and handling experience is advantageous, although training can be given as required. Training will also be provided for other aspects ie Makaton. Candidates should possess good literacy and numeracy skills.
This position is a ‘job share’ position with another colleague. ‘Handover communication’ will be an important feature of this role.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Have a good standard in literacy and numeracy.
Have the ability to communicate effectively with pupils, parents, staff and outside agencies.
Have a minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience within a school.

A programme of training, as required
A friendly and dedicated staff team
Ongoing support from health professionals such as Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy
