1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary
Southmead Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistants to support individual pupils with SEND in our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes. We are looking for a motivated team player ideally with experience of working with children with a range of needs both individually and in small groups. A positive and encouraging attitude is essential, as is kindness, patience and an ability to use your initiative. You will need to have experience of working alongside staff to plan and deliver a differentiated curriculum and timetable based on the specific needs of one particular child or small group of children. We are looking for applicants who are dedicated to making a difference to children’s lives and to ensure every child has the opportunities they deserve.
This post is fixed term based on the continued attendance of the named pupil at Southmead Primary School or any review of their special needs.

We are looking for someone with the following essential qualities:
• A Teaching and Learning Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent
• Experience of working with children and/or children with additional needs (this can include your own children or in another setting)
• Experience of working with children with Autism, dyslexia, trauma or speech and language needs
• Experience of delivering 1:1 and/or small group interventions
• Experience of setting clear and consistent boundaries
• A positive and encouraging attitude
• Kindness and patience
• A willingness to learn
• An ability to work within a team
• GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths

This role requires the ability to fulfill all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
