What skills and experience we're looking for

A qualified, caring, committed Teaching Assistant is required to work as part of a team with pupils with Education Health Care Plans.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Enjoy working with children and want to make a difference.
  • Be keen to learn and welcome continued professional development.
  • Be organised and able to adapt planning, through daily assessment, to meet individual needs.
  • Have relevant school-based experience, particularly working with children with additional needs.

The person appointed will:

  • Work under the direction of the class teacher and Academy SENCO.
  • Support the children on a personalised plan within a mainstream infant class.
  • Deliver specific interventions as directed in an EHCP.
  • Adapt planning and create resources to meet the children’s individual needs.
  • Communicate positively and regularly with parents.
  • Attend meetings with parents and professionals, where relevant, and support the children in reaching the targets set out on the children’s Education, Health and Care Plan and SEN Support Plan.
  • Deliver intervention support for individuals or small groups of children.

The following will be an advantage:

  • Working knowledge of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 Curriculum.
  • Understanding of child development.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
