What skills and experience we're looking for
- It is the job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children for who they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact, to adhere to and ensure compliance with the Academy’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the Academy, they must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or the Head.
- To be a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to a named child or children with SEN (namely ASD)
- To deliver agreed support to a named child/children, as directed by the Class Teacher .
- Be experienced in supporting a child or children with ASD previously
- To maintain high levels of communication with Class Teacher with regards to both pastoral and academic issues
- To attend EHCP Review meetings if required.
- Assist in the planning of appropriate programmes of work for a named child/children according to their age, aptitude and ability, in consultation with the Class Teacher or Year Group Team Leader and in accordance with the School’s curriculum policy.
- Contribute to ensuring that the learning environment for the named child/children is learning attractive, stimulating and well organised.
- Maintain in good order all resources related to or used by the named child/children and ensure that he/she is trained in their use and care.
- Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of the child/children in accordance with the Academy’s curriculum policy.
- Carry out supervisory duties at lunch and playtimes, in relation to the needs of the named child/children
- Actively promote good home/school relationships.
- To maintain in good order the class room and beyond.
- Any other reasonable duties as requested.
