What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you a talented Biology teacher ready to take your first step into leadership? Ashmole Academy, a high-achieving, mixed comprehensive school in North London is seeking a dynamic and passionate second in charge of Biology.

The Science Faculty at Ashmole Academy has a well-established collaborative team, who are committed to fostering a curiosity in our students for science in the world around us. Our science curriculum encourages students to think like scientists whilst developing their knowledge and skills as we seek to inspire the next generation of science specialists.

Biology is a popular subject within the Science Faculty and has a proven track record of high academic outcomes at GCSE and A Level. Many of our Biology students go on to study at Russell Group universities. As second in charge of Biology you will work closely with the Head of Biology to create a culture of excellence, aspiration and care within the Science Faculty.

Our Science team constantly contributes towards pedagogical improvements across the school and they strive to offer students an engaging curriculum. This is complemented by a strong extra-curricular provision, including MedSoc and Scholar’s programme.

In 2024, at GCSE more than two thirds of our separate science students achieved at least a Grade 8, and approximately 30% achieved a Grade 9. Approximately three quarters of our combined sciencestudents achieved a grade 5 or above. At A-Level, approximately 60% of students achieved A*-B and 25% achieved A*-A in Biology.
