Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the Secondary team at Millbay Academy in September 2022.
Post: HLTA (EAL and SEN) – Protective Team (Secondary)
Location: Millbay Academy, 22 Millbay Road, Millbay, Plymouth PL1 3EG
FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade E, Point 15 – 19, £23,953 - £26,446 per annum pro-rata
Actual Annual Salary: £18,643 - £20,583 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, part time; term-time (39 weeks per year)
Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday
About the role
Millbay Academy is an all through primary to secondary academy and are looking to recruit an experienced HLTA as part of the secondary protective team.
The job involves complementing the work of the teachers by taking responsibilities for agreed learning activities, including planning, preparing and delivery, providing PPA cover for teachers and supporting teachers in the delivery of the curriculum for EAL and SEN pupils so that they can achieve their full potential.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and dedicated person who wants to make a different to our young people’s lives. We are looking for people who have the following experience and qualities:
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant standard or equivalent qualification or experience
- Numeracy/Literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Mathematics
- Knowledge and experience of implementing national/foundation stage curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies
- Understanding of child development and learning processes and statutory frameworks relating to teaching
- Developed training skills required for supporting the pupils in the classroom and effective written and oral communication skills for liaising with the pupils, other staff, parents and outside agencies and professionals
