UTC Plymouth, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Science Teacher to join the School as soon as possible.

Post: Science Teacher

Location: UTC Plymouth, Park Avenue, Devonport, Plymouth, PL1 4RL

FTE Salary Range: Main Pay Scale - Upper Pay Scale, £25,714 - £41,604 per annum

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday

About the successful candidate

You will be a passionate advocate of equality and committed to raising standards, raising aspirations and facilitating the real life chances of the next generation. You will understand the scope of the STEAM agenda and its importance within the economic landscape at a local level. You are tenacious, enjoy a challenge and are dedicated to your own professional development as a means of providing the best to our young people and our team. You will understand the importance of “soft skill” development as a means of developing the whole individual alongside a strong drive for academic excellence. You are a creative, forward thinker who understands the vital necessity to provide young people with high aspirations and a clear pathway for life beyond the college.

This role involves understanding the needs of the students and adopting/developing an appropriate curriculum/interventions in your area. You will need to be able to establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly. You should have an awareness of the recent Ofsted report into science delivery and its implementation in the classroom.
