UTC Plymouth, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional DT/Engineering Teacher to join the School as soon as possible.

FTE Salary Range: MPS-UPS, £28000 rising to a maximum of £43685 per annum
Hours/Contract: Full-time, Permanent Position: 1.0 FTE

You will contribute to raising standards of student attainment; contribute to the assessment and quality assurance of our vocational qualifications, share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth and facilitate a learning experience that allows individuals to fulfil their potential.
The department, recently rated as Good by Ofsted, is at the forefront of Design and Engineering education, with a focus upon Design and Technology at Key Stage 3 and 4, and dual specialisms of Design Engineering and Advanced Manufacture at Key Stage 5. We have an excellent track record of progression into the STEAM workforce as well as to Engineering programmes of study at University. As a UTC we have a clear mandate to work directly with our employer/industry partners, to provide a World Class technical education, and develop the aspirations, knowledge and skills to enter this dynamic sector. As such our facilities are locally second to none. The successful candidate will be either a Design and Technology or Engineering teacher, with experience of teaching to Key Stage 4/level 2 Design and Technology or Engineering qualifications. There is further opportunity to work either across Key Stage 3 or Key stage 5, particularly to support our level 3 BTEC Engineering provision and support the transition to level 3 T Levels, however prior experience of this is not essential.

This role involves understanding the needs of the students and adopting/developing an appropriate curriculum/interventions or pastoral programme in your area. You will need to be able to establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly.

UTC Plymouth is an educational college for 11-19 year olds specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. Our curriculum is delivered through a combination of industry standard workshop experiences, a focus on high achievement in core academic subjects and industry-led challenges with the aim of offering clear progression routes into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further learning in work.
