High Street Primary, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint experienced Teaching Assistants to join the School in November 2023. 

Post: Teaching Assistant - Primary

Location: High Street Primary Academy, Plymouth PL1 3SJ

FTE Salary Range: Grade C, point 5-7, £21,575 rising to £22,369 per annum pro rata

Actual Annual Salary: £16,865 rising to £17,485 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, part time, term-time only (39 weeks)

Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

We are seeking to appoint 3 experienced Teaching Assistants to join our primary team based at High Street Primary Academy.  The role involves working under instruction and guidance of teaching staff to undertake support programmes to enable access to learning for pupils, including those with special needs and to assist the teacher in the planning of learning activities and management of the classroom.

About the successful candidate

You will need:

  • NVQ2 Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Understanding of foundation/national stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes and strategies
  • Numeracy and literacy skills to fulfil the duties of the role
  • Effective written and oral communication skills required to liaise with pupils, other staff, parents and outside agencies and professionals.
  • Keyboarding skills required to support the use of ICT in learning activities.

About the School

High Street Primary recently formed a federation with Millbay Academy and we currently have approximately 210 pupils on Roll plus a nursery.  In July 2023, OFSTED inspectors rated the school as ‘good’, praising the highly ambitious curriculum, the speed in which children gained the knowledge and skills they need, the support given to children to read confidently.  Inclusion is a strength within the school; all pupils including those with SEND, make good progress. Pupils behaviour is good and we use our bespoke manners curriculum to encourage a warm and friendly ethos.
