Parkfield School, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Teacher of English with the ability to teach within KS3-4 to join the School as soon as possible.
Post: Teacher of English – KS3-4
Location: Parkfield School
FTE Salary Range: MPS1 to UPS3, £30,000 to £46,525 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, full time
Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday

You will contribute to raising standards of student attainment; share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth and facilitate a learning experience that allows individuals to fulfil their potential.
The English department is a vibrant and forward thinking area of the school. We have a determination to provide a top class English education to raise the aspirations of students and secure meaningful outcomes and destinations for them. We achieve this through a knowledge focused curriculum that provides opportunity for contextualisation through a robust careers programme and collaboration with other schools in our academy trust. The role will require teaching the potential for teaching to specialism at KS3 and KS4 and the opportunity to engage with the primary curriculum in our all through site if desired. We require an English teacher who, as part of the team, will contribute to the continued development and refinement of our curriculum, maintain an inclusive, positive and proactive ethos, and engage with opportunities for collaboration within our STEAM subject areas and wider industry network. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity for further work and collaboration across the academy trust.
About the successful candidate

You will understand the scope of the English agenda and its importance within the economic landscape and the opportunities surrounding the skill set . You are tenacious, enjoy a challenge and are dedicated to your own professional development as a means of providing the best to our young people and our team. You will understand the importance of “soft skill” development as a means of developing the whole individual alongside a strong drive for academic excellence. You are a creative, forward thinker who understands the vital necessity to provide young people with high aspirations and a clear pathway for life beyond the school.
This role involves understanding the needs of the students and adopting/developing an appropriate curriculum/interventions in your area. You will need to be able to establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly. You should have an awareness of the recent Ofsted research report into English delivery and its implementation in the classroom.
