Millbay Academy, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint Homework Club Leaders to join the team as soon as possible.
Post: Homework Club Leader
Location: Millbay Academy, 22 Millbay Road, Plymouth, PL1 3EG
FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade E, Point 15-20, £27,803 rising to a maximum of £30,296 per annum pro rata
Hourly Rate: £14.41 rising to a maximum of £15.70
Actual Annual Salary: £3,343 rising to a maximum of £3,643 per annum.
Contract Type: Permanent, part time; term time only (39 weeks per year)
Contract Hours: 5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 8.30am. Due to the nature of the role, we cannot be flexible on the start and finish time, however there may be a possibility to job share for the right candidate(s).
About the role
We are seeking to appoint Homework Club Leaders who can help lead the provision and provide support and advice to secondary pupils during hours outside of the core school day.
Your duties will include:
- Leading and supporting homework based activities
- Monitoring behaviour in order to diffuse possible conflict situations by encouraging and re-enforcing positive behaviour and interaction between students
- Responding to students appropriately, encouraging them and keeping them on task by using praise, commentary and assistance
- Carrying out administrative duties as required
- Clearing up after activities making sure that materials are well cared for and stored properly
About the successful candidate
You will need:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English (Grade C and above) or equivalent
- A Higher Level Teaching Assistant standard or equivalent qualification or experience
- Good knowledge of general computer packages
- Previous experience of working in a school environment
