About the role
The Student Support Worker (SSW) will play an integral role within the Inclusion, Welfare, and Behaviour Team, providing essential support to students. Key responsibilities include supporting the Reset Programme, delivering targeted interventions for students within The Bridge (our Alternative Provision), and assisting with structured social time activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of the school’s Inclusion Strategy, ensuring a consistent approach for students across various stages of the pastoral graduated approach.
Purpose of role:
To foster effective partnerships with parents and carers, ensuring a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and well-being of children.
To work alongside vulnerable families and external agencies to coordinate targeted interventions that meet identified needs, overseeing the delivery of a collaborative support plan.
To facilitate and deliver support services and early interventions that enhance parental capacity and family relationships.
To develop and implement a range of innovative approaches to effectively engage with families, particularly those who are hard to reach, in order to improve outcomes for children.
To collaborate closely with the Behaviour Manager to support students facing challenges in accessing the curriculum, and to liaise with Pastoral Leads and relevant stakeholders in developing effective strategies.
Key Principles:
Inclusion is central to ensuring that every student receives an adaptive education. No child should be disadvantaged due to their background, additional needs, or ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). All staff and students are entitled to a learning environment that is stimulating, challenging, and free from disruption. For students requiring additional support, the school provides three distinct areas:
Reset (Early Help): Immediate intervention and support.
PSC (Pastoral Support Centre): Support for enhanced transitions and SEND needs.
BSC (The Bridge): Focused on SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
Each area of Inclusion is supported by our tracking system, linked to the Graduated Approach, enabling early identification and tailored interventions for each individual case. For more information, please download the job description.
