Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
Contract Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00

The Role: As our new Secondary School Improvement Leader, you will be joining Reach South at a pivotal moment. With the appointment of our new CEO, Tom Leverage, we are seeking a strategic and experienced education leader to work closely with him and the Deputy CEO in shaping the future of secondary education across the Trust. You will play a key role in driving school improvement, supporting headteachers, and ensuring excellent outcomes for every student. Collaborating with a dedicated senior leadership team and engaging with Trustees committed to inclusivity and excellence, you will help build on our strong foundations and deliver real impact where it matters most.
Location: The postholder will be based at one of the Trusts existing secondary schools, UTC Plymouth, Millbay Academy in Plymouth, or Thomas Hall School in Exeter, but will be expected to work across all three schools as needed, with a physical presence in schools on a daily basis. As the Trust grows, travel to other secondary schools within the South West will also be required, depending on future school locations.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership of School Improvement
Develop and implement the Trust’s secondary school improvement strategy in collaboration with the CEO and Deputy CEO.
Provide expert advice on standards and performance, align improvement plans with Trust priorities, and promote a culture of high expectations.
Performance Leadership and Accountability
Inspire and hold Headteachers to account for school performance and improvement.
Lead performance reviews, ensure high outcomes for pupils, and oversee Ofsted preparation and response to underperformance.
Curriculum Development and Educational Quality
Provide strategic leadership on curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
Ensure curriculum is inclusive, high-quality, and coherent across all secondary schools, and support innovation and best practice sharing.
