Post: Attendance & Admissions Officer
Location: Oxford Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth PL1 5BQ
Salary Range: NJC Grade D, Point 8-14, £26,824 rising to a maximum of £29,540, per annum pro-rata
Actual Salary: £23,870 rising to a maximum of £26,287 per annum
Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday), term-time only, until July 2026
The Role: Pilgrim Primary Academy is looking to recruit an experienced Attendance & Admissions Officer to join our team.
This important role includes contributing to improving school attendance and improving persistent absence, supporting students and families, building and maintaining positive relationships and administering school admissions. Responsibilities include; investigating absences, making assessments and plans for return, keeping clear and concise records, producing data reports and working with outside agencies such as the Education Welfare Officer and County Council for admissions.
The Person: This is a great opportunity for an organised, confident and dedicated person with strong communication skills and a positive can-do attitude. We are looking for people who have the following experience and qualities:
NVQ Level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualification or experience
Strong communication skills to exchange information with a range of audiences and professionals (e.g. staff, students, parents and other agencies, including use of data and analysis to communicate to stakeholders).
GCSE Mathematics and English - Grade C and above or equivalent
Good knowledge and experience of school’s systems and an understanding of the issues affecting truancy and non-school attendance.
Previous experience of working in a school, whilst is not essential would be desirable.
