2iC Science job summary

This is an important role in the department that will see the successful candidate working alongside our experienced head of department as second in charge and taking a lead on STEM initiatives across the school.

This role would suit teachers of either Chemistry, Physics or Biology. Some candidates may already have some responsibilities in a Science Department but are looking for a next step which more fully recognises what they have to offer. Others may be looking for their first responsibility in Science and are keen to learn to make that contribution in a highly supportive and stable department.

If you get along well with other people, want to be in a friendly environment with plenty of cakes and coffee, and if you enjoy working with highly motivated students, then we want to hear from you!

Science is particularly strong department in our school and consistently delivers very high standards in terms of progress and attainment. Students thoroughly enjoy their Science lessons at this school with very good numbers continuing to A Level. Students are taught a highly practical hands-on curriculum to ensure students develop lab skills alongside superb curriculum knowledge. We are supported by the Russell Education Trust and the successful candidate will have regular support, assistance, and guidance from our excellent senior science adviser on a weekly basis.

We have a lot of information about the school on the website, but we are also keen to welcome applicants to come for a tour and a face-to-face meeting with the head of department.

If you would like a conversation about the school or the position, please email us at vacancies@becketkeys.org.

We reserve the right to close advertisements early. Advertisements will therefore close at 12 noon, either on the advertised closing date, or the day the decision has been taken to close the advertisement early.

Becket Keys is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The appointee will be committed to our high expectations and core values – we welcome applications from teachers irrespective of their faith or belief. However, we ask for applicants to appreciate and respect the beliefs of others and have strong moral principles.

Staff of the school benefit from priority admission for their children. Our admissions policy effectively guarantees staff a place in the school for their children. With over 800 applications for our 150 places each year, this is a significant perk! In addition, staff will be provided with a comprehensive induction programme and laptop, childcare vouchers are available, and an excellent neighbouring provision offers discounted rates for staff members.

Please complete both our application form and equalities monitoring form and email it with a personal statement to vacancies@becketkeys.org.
