We have a great opportunity for an energetic and positive 2nd in PE to join our wonderful Academy and Team. The Stockwood Park Academy are proud of the unrivalled educational experience offered. You will benefit from a forward-thinking and supportive leadership, an encouraging and enthusiastic staff body, as well as enterprising students. Our academy has state of the art facilities fit for all your teaching needs. Our facilities include a brand-new gym with equipment from September 2022 which is available for staff to use after school hours.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher to take up this post and make a real difference to the lives of our students. We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic and motivated; we want more students excelling in PE, and especially want to promote this through extracurricular. We also want to see students regularly involved in fixtures, competitions and tournaments. Ultimately, we want all students to enjoy PE because it supports their health and wellbeing while developing lifelong skills. We are looking for a colleague who will embrace our drive to ensure that PE is at the core of our curriculum and has students' progress at the forefront of their teaching. The successful candidate will likely lead on Vocational Physical Education Curriculum (Level 2 and Level 3) within the PE department.
Our students respond very positively to PE lessons and enjoy using the full range of resources. All students up to 16 receive two periods of Physical Education a week. Alongside these core hours, at Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE PE and Cambridge National Sport Studies. At Key Stage 5 we offer Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Sport and Physical Activity that can either be studied at extended certificate, diploma or extended diploma level. We continue to work closely with our partner school, The Chalk Hills Academy, to promote established Football and Cricket Academy in partnership with Luton Town FC and Northamptonshire Cricket. Overall, the PE Team is well established and respected within the academy.
We have an excellent fitness suite available for staff and student use, a full-size sports hall, dance studio, a full sized 3G Astroturf, outdoor basketball court area and field with a rugby and football pitch in the winter and 400m track and rounders pitches in the summer. Our classrooms are all fitted with interactive whiteboards and the academy has numerous ICT suites and laptop trolleys that can be booked for use in lessons.
It’s incredibly important to us here at The Stockwood Park Academy that all our teachers feel valued, listened to, mentored, challenged and given adequate opportunities to develop. We are proud of the culture that we have created for promoting Quality First Teaching and offer exceptional teacher training and professional development to cater for the needs and progression of all staff.
