3x Advanced Teaching Assistant job summary

The Wolds and Vale Federation is growing from September 2022 to include 3 wonderful village primary schools (Luttons, Sherburn and Snainton). Luttons Community Primary School and Snainton Church of England Primary School are nurturing learning communities and we are proud of our growing reputation for supporting all children and adults to reach and exceed their potential. Our children grow in confidence throughout the school to ‘be the change they want to see in the world’. Staff are encouraged to share their professional learning with each other and embrace the expertise each has to share. We care passionately about the health and well-being of all children and staff. Our schools embrace local, regional and global challenges to consider how we can make a positive difference in our community.

Do you want to be part of a growing federation of village schools?

Do you want to work in a setting with caring, friendly children?

Do you want to work with colleagues and with leaders who support, and promote, your creative thinking?

If so, then we would love to hear from you.

Our opportunity

Following continued growth in pupil numbers at Luttons and Snainton, we are looking to appoint three Advanced Teaching Assistants.

One successful candidate will be based in Key Stage 2 at Snainton. This is a new role in our school and exists to provide targeted support for pupils with special educational needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENDCo and class teacher to deliver small group and 1:1 interventions.

Our second ATA vacancy provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to lead our nursery provision at Snainton, which is increasing in September to offer 30 hours. The successful candidate will work closely with our EYFS teacher to plan provision for our nursery children (ages 2-4).

A third vacancy exists at Luttons because of growth in pupil numbers from September. The successful candidate will work predominantly with nursery and Reception children under the direction of the Class Teacher.

As a federation, we highly value the contributions of all staff to help create purposeful learning environments which also supports the development of the whole child.

We actively encourage you to apply if you are passionate about supporting children to be the best they can be and have the skills we are looking for. We are looking for someone that is:

Dynamic and enthusiastic
Respectful of confidentiality
An excellent communicator
Organised with their time and resources
We can offer you:

A warm, happy school where we value everyone and have a culture of kindness and support for each other
Happy children who are enthusiastic about their learning
A school with exciting and attractive learning environments,
A leadership team who welcome fresh ideas and a sense of teamwork,
Well supported teachers and support professionals
Join us and build a wonderful career in a school you are passionate about with children you love to help learn.

I have had the privilege of being the Headteacher of our school since September 2018. We have excellent relationships with our local community which mean our school really is at the heart of the village. Our children are proud of their community and take responsibility for sharing the work we do with others. We are actively involved in projects locally and nationally to spread key messages that we think are important to us in the world today. This includes environmental issues and humanitarian issues and our children are keen to 'be the change they want to see in the world'.

As a small school, staff feel fortunate to know each of our families and we provide a safe environment for your child to learn and grow. Our children know each other well and learn to care for one another over time. Children share activities with each other within their class and with other classes throughout the school. Our children participate in the Diocese of York Young Leaders Award to further develop their leadership skills and learn to apply these in a range of situations. Children's University with the University of Hull supports our children to engage in a wide range of learning opportunities in the surrounding areas and supports them to develop a range of interests.

We pride ourselves on placing Christian Values at the heart of our school curriculum. Each half term, 1 Christian Value becomes the focus for the school curriculum and teachers find exciting texts to share with the children to help demonstrate these values. Children explore the meaning of each Christian Value through a range of learning opportunities. Forest School is an important element of our school curriculum and all children actively participate in this each fortnight

In September 2019, school welcomed our very own dog. Simba is a cockapoo and is still a puppy but he is already a firm favourite with the children. You can read more about Simba, and see pictures of him, on his page of the website.

Luttons Community Primary School is a small, rural school set in the lovely Yorkshire Wolds village of West Lutton. Our catchment area is large, serving the villages of Duggleby, Kirby Grindalythe, East and West Luttons and Helperthorpe, because of this many children are eligible for free transport. Our school focuses on providing a stimulating learning environment, which develops the children into caring and independent individuals.

We have a large site and spacious buildings. Our outdoor spaces include a school field, adventure playground, playground and several themed outdoor areas. Whilst indoors our facilities include two age appropriately resourced class rooms, a sports hall, a separate dining room and a recently refurbished library.

We have two mixed age classes; Foundation and Key Stage 1, in Class 1 and Key Stage 2, in Class 2. The children are taught by 2 full-time teachers and supported by 2 teaching assistants. We are proud of our comprehensive creative and personalised curriculum, which is enriched by a wide range of opportunities, including participation in additional sports, music and science events.
