Miltoncross is an academy at the heart of its community that has very high aspirations for all of its staff and students. We operate by the core values of Work Hard. Be Kind. No Excuses in order to foster a learning community where everybody values each other and everybody values the power of learning. We offer a supportive and collegiate working environment where we all have the same goal - outstanding learning for children. We are now one year into building a fresh, optimistic and sustainable culture where staff and students are always fulfilled because they know that they are doing their best work for the right reasons. Our systems and structures are designed to liberate staff and students, freeing us all up from the challenges of uncertainty and relentless workload which in turn enables creativity, excitement and essentially, it makes coming to school enjoyable for all! To understand this better, do ask to read our Blueprint for Brilliance which outlines everything we do, why and how. This could really help you make an informed decision about whether this is your next career move or not. We think it should be! Staff and students enjoy their days in excellent modern buildings with superb facilities. We are located on the West of Portsmouth and access is easy from the M27 or A27. Many staff commute easily from Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and West Sussex either by car or by public transport.
TKAT ACE - a champion for every child - provides a dedicated 1:1 tutor for each disadvantaged pupil and their family in our school. To learn more please visit:https://www.tkat.org/1457/tkat-aceAt Miltoncross Academy we are resolutely dedicated to ensuring that those students most in need are very well supported to succeed academically in school. It is our ambition that all of our disadvantaged students leave school with academic qualifications that match their more affluent peers and that their success is never hampered by any existing disadvantage. To do that, we alongside all other TKAT Academies are breaking the mould by developing our, A Champion for Everyone (ACE) programme. This programme allocates disadvantaged students with a dedicated in-school academic tutor whose role is to help their tutees overcome barriers to strong outcomes. This is done by meeting each tutee each week, setting goals, liaising with teachers, monitoring attendance and progress and liaising very closely with parents and families alongside any additional practical support such as providing equipment, referrals and checking and supporting with homework. This role is key to our strategy to raise disadvantaged students’ outcomes and the successful applicant will report directly to and work closely with our Senior ACE Tutor who is also a regional ACE Leader. The successful candidate will be working in an established team of four other tutors and so will need to be a strong team player who is willing and keen to help and support others. It is a role that has the potential for the right candidate to be hugely rewarding but it does require staff who are very strong, empathetic listeners and communicators and who are determined in seeking the very best for their tutees. The successful candidate will also be educated preferably to degree level but if not to level 3/A level.
In return, as an employee of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT), you will benefit from: A wide variety of opportunities for professional development, including the potential to develop your career at more than one TKAT academy; Opportunities to work flexibly, where possible; Our support for your wellbeing at work; and The rewards of working to improve the life chances of our pupils.
TKAT is committed to inclusion, diversity and equality of opportunity by encouraging and welcoming differences, listening to individual experiences, aspirations and accomplishments and learning how to grow better together. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of any protected characteristic; this includes applicants wishing to work flexibly.
