Essential:

  • A Levels or NVQ Level 3 in relevant subjects.
  • Strong ICT, communication, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience working with young people and their families.
  • A positive, resilient approach to problem-solving.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Desirable:

  • A degree in a relevant subject.
  • Experience working with 11–16-year-olds in a school setting.
  • An understanding of how academic intervention supports student success.

As an Academic Intervention Support Officer, you’ll play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with their education. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying students at risk of underachievement in collaboration with the Assistant Headteacher.
  • Delivering targeted academic support, including mentoring, study skills, and organisational coaching.
  • Liaising with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to student support.
  • Coordinating and delivering short- to medium-term interventions in a dedicated, well-resourced workspace.
  • Supporting the development of systems to track and monitor student progress.
