Academic Mentor job summary
As an academic Mentor you will play a key role in the country’s recovery from Covid-19, as part of the government-backed National Tutoring Programme. With the aim to reach 250,000 pupils in England that may have encountered barriers to learning, this is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by delivering quality tuition sessions to small groups.
We are looking for passionate, driven and caring people to support those whose education has been most affected by the disruption caused by the pandemic.
As an Academic Mentor you will be employed on a fixed term contract by Richard Lander School to deliver a tailored programme of support.
You will play a key role in enabling students to build their confidence and access targeted support while developing skills and experience in a school for your future career.
You will additionally benefit from a custom program of online training via Liverpool Hope University. This will be one week of training for qualified teachers and two weeks for Graduates.

All new employees will be required to undertake mandatory training required by the school.

Richard Lander School is a popular school, over subscribed in all year groups. We have 1500 students on roll and this number is growing.
Mr Steve Mulcahy, is our Headteacher and has been since 2008. The building and grounds are part of a PFI contract and are maintained to a very high standard.
We have high standards of our students and the staff who work with them. We have an ARB on site which is very much part of our school. We drive to ensure that everyone can 'be the best that they can be' and this includes both staff and students. Our standards are high and our aim is for all children to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.
