ACADEMIC MENTOR – 3 days per week – Flexible
Fixed term contract until 31st August 2024
Grade 4 £32,076 per annum
Actual salary (22.5 hours per week) term time £17,364.98 per annum
The role of Academic Mentor is a new post within the current support staff structure and we are looking for someone to combine excellent subject knowledge with the ability to empathise with the students in the school.
To support the Senior Leadership team to work in innovative ways with individuals or small groups of identified underachieving pupils, assisting them to fulfil their potential. You will assist students to raise the level of their literacy by helping them to use and develop a range of reading strategies, through developing their accuracy of their writing, be that creative or functional.
You will assist students to raise the level of their numeracy by helping them to develop their key skills of multiplication, addition, division and subtraction, as well as their understanding of the place value system.
The successful applicant will:
Experience of supporting young people 11-19 years
Good communication skills verbal and non-verbal.
Good organisational skills and efficient working practices
Ability to summarise and record information accurately
Prioritise own work and ability to work on own initiative
Ability to use conflict resolution strategies and breaking down barriers to education
The successful candidate will need to be willing to sign up to the NTP recruitment agency. More information provided upon request.
