We are looking for an exceptional individual who;

  • Has a clear vision and ambition for 21st Century SEND education, supported by a sound understanding of what makes an excellent specialist school
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the curriculum and what constitutes highly effective teaching, learning and assessment for pupils with complex learning difficulties and a wide range of disabilities, including social/communication needs
  • Understands, and empathises with, the lives of children and their families living with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Can inspire and motivate others to be aspirational for all pupils
  • Is an approachable listener, with excellent interpersonal and ‘people management’ skills
  • Values partnership working and collaboration (both within and outside of the trust)

What the school offers its staff

Following expansion of the trust and after several years of an executive leadership structure, we are looking to recruit an inspiring individual as Academy Principal, who can lead the school in its continued success and maintain and develop the school/trust values and ethos.

Newbridge School is a well-established, three-times outstanding, split-site special school which offers a unique offer of day provision to the children and young people of Redbridge. We admit pupils who have severe and profound learning difficulties with a range of special educational needs including; physical disabilities/Sensory impairments/Autistic spectrum disorders/associated behaviours/complex medical needs. Currently the school is designated for 169 pupils on roll, incorporating Early Years and Post-16 provisions. The school serves a multi ethnic population, which reflects the diversity of the borough and East London.

The new Academy Principal should be a forward-thinking, dynamic and creative individual with previous successful experience as a Headteacher or experienced Deputy Headteacher.

We are part of the Astrum Multi Academy Trust with two school sites, which are within one mile of each other. Lower School is for pupils in Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and Upper School for students in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and 16-19.

Pupils transfer from Gresham Drive to Barley Lane Campus at the end of Key Stage 2 and are supported to do this through a well-planned transition programme.
