We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who is keen to join the school in a new and exciting opportunity to deliver a bespoke curriculum to students, which ensures all students can access, thrive and succeed in their studies.

The ideal candidate will support students to re-engage in learning, develop their social and emotional skills and deploy effective adaptive strategies in delivering a bespoke curriculum, which provides students with the skills required to succeed in life after school. At Sir Harry Smith Community College, we ensure all children are provided with 'Aspiration and Achievement’.

The teacher will have a record of promoting excellent outcomes and expectations for all pupils, follow, plan and deliver an engaging and unique curriculum within KS3 for students who may be working at KS2 level. The successful candidate will thrive when working as part of a team and have experience working collaboratively with a range of staff and other professionals.

We welcome applications from primary or middle school teachers from mainstream or special schools, who can teach across a range of subjects. Current secondary school teachers are welcome to apply and will be required to teach a mixture of English, Maths and Humanities. This post is not suitable for an ECT.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be inspirational, enthusiastic, and dedicated to improving student outcomes for some of our most vulnerable students.
  • Demonstrate adaptive teaching through dynamic and imaginative delivery.
  • Have good subject knowledge across KS2-3 English, Maths and Humanities.
  • Work collaboratively with a committed team of supportive and skilled teachers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and supportive department who place all children at the centre of excellent teaching and learning.

The school can offer:

  • Supportive and ambitious middle and senior leaders
  • Recognition for continuous service
  • Automatic enrolment into the TPS
  • Excellent CPD opportunities
  • Access to the Employee Assistance Programme

We are a ‘good’ school. Our February 2024 Ofsted recognised that within SEND:

The school has redesigned its curriculum. It has thought carefully about how to inspire pupils. The school has a well-planned and ambitious programme of learning. The school has ensured that the curriculum reflects the diversity of modern life. Pupils explain how they celebrate difference. The school has planned so all pupils have access to the curriculum without limitation. This includes those pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)’.
