Admin Assistant job summary

The Holy Family Catholic Primary school is a one form entry primary school on the outskirts of Welwyn Garden City. As a Catholic primary school, we pride ourselves on our welcoming and nurturing environment, where every pupil is valued and inspired to flourish.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Receptionist Administrator and Midday Supervisory Assistant to join our hardworking team.

The hours will be 9.15am – 12.45pm Monday to Friday during the school term time. One hour will be working as a Midday Supervisory Assistant with our nursery children.

As a Receptionist Administrator you will be working closely with our Senior Administrator and our School Business Manager and Senior Leadership team to provide efficient administration, you will be responsible for a range of receptionist and clerical duties. Central to this will be to provide a welcoming, professional and efficient first point of contact for parents and visitors to the school, whether at the front desk, on the telephone, or by email.

In addition, you will use a variety of IT systems to record school data. You will also assume responsibility for recording and monitoring pupil absences and reporting on this as appropriate. This role will involve providing efficient administrative support to the school, as well as caring for and supervising our children during the lunchtime period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a warm and welcoming first point of contact for parents, visitors, and the school community.
  • Maintaining accurate records and data systems, including monitoring pupil attendance.
  • Assisting with the organisation of school events, meetings, and communication.
  • Supporting the school's finance and procurement processes.
  • Supervising and interacting with children during the lunchtime break, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Helping children access the lunch service and encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Administering medication.
