What skills and experience we're looking for

An opportunity has arisen to join our Sunderland team as an Admin Assistant, reporting to the Admin Officer, as part of a small team in our busy school office. Your role will be to provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office whilst contributing to a busy and varied workload. The successful candidate will manage phone calls, emails, and other communications, ensuring queries are handled promptly and efficiently, maintain accurate records, databases and filing systems and assist in the preparation of reports, newsletters and other school documentation.

You will also help to coordinate and manage school events and meetings, support the management of pupil attendance and admissions records and liaise with parents, pupils, and external stakeholders as necessary.

The successful candidate should have a proactive and flexible approach as the role is wide ranging and varied and you must have a minimum of GCSE grade C in Maths and English and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Previous experience of working in a school is desirable, however full training will be provided.


Essential criteria:

GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above (or equivalent)

Experience of providing administrative support in a busy office environment

Experience of working in a team

Excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal confidently with managers and staff at all levels

Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

A high level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail

Ability to use Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and other IT system
