Birchfield Primary is situated in an outer suburb of South West Leeds. It enjoys a particularly pleasant aspect backing on to fields, and most of the pupils are drawn from the local village of Gildersome. The school has been heavily oversubscribed since 2004 and many children from further afield have selected us as their school of choice. The school is single form entry (from Foundation 2 – Y6) and we have a purpose built Foundation Unit that serves the village - F1 catering for a further 52 children with flexible provision. The school enjoys excellent links with the local community, is a member of ‘The Morley Primary Partnership’ a group of 8 local schools who work together sharing good practice, moderation, special projects and inset, and is an active member of the larger Morley Family of Schools.
Birchfield is a thriving and vibrant school with an excellent reputation both locally and within the authority. We are a school that seeks to combine academic excellence with a healthy, active and motivational curriculum. We are an inclusive school and very proud of our commitment to provide a high quality, rounded education for all pupils whatever their race, gender, religion or ability. This has been recognised through our achievement of the Stephen Lawrence Award (Level 1), Investors in People, the Inclusion Chartermark, Leeds Healthy Schools and National Healthy Schools as well as Activemark. Our most recent full Ofsted inspection in October 2018.
