Help us to build our school!
Surrey Maths School (SuMS) is a specialist 16-19 Maths School which opened in Guildford in September 2024 to serve students across the South East, aiming to become a hub of excellence for the teaching of the mathematical sciences.
We are seeking to appoint a well-organised, efficient and enthusiastic school admissions and attendance officer. As a brand-new school in its first year of opening we are in phase of growth and development. This role will suit someone excited to be part of a new school and are happy to take on a wide variety of duties and looking to develop their own skills as the role develops over time.
The successful applicant should have excellent organisational and time-management skills and the ability to prioritise their workload to ensure that deadlines are met, as well as to work autonomously and take initiative. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential requirements. You will provide a friendly, welcoming, first point of contact for the team and you will have the ability to cope with conflicting demands and deadlines.
Skills and attributes we are looking for:
· An experienced and effective administrator
· Effective interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with young people and adults
· Ability to use initiative and respond the changing situations and commitments
· Ability to work independently and problem solve
This is a unique opportunity to work in an environment where there is real excitement and enthusiasm for the mathematical sciences and where you have the chance to shape the minds of the future as part of a dedicated and supportive team.
At Surrey Maths School you will be part of a small, enthusiastic team working with students who are driven and excited by mathematical sciences. Take a look at our SuMS information pack for prospective staff for more information about the broader school and what you can expect from working with us.
The post holder will be required to work between 32.5 hours per week term-time only, with three additional weeks during the school holidays. We are open to discussing the hours with you.
What we can offer you:
· A professional and supportive team
· Training and development – opportunities to take part in a range of training events and ongoing professional development
· Family friendly employer – working within a team which understands that operational needs can be balanced with family responsibilities
· Employee assistance programme – free and confidential third-party telephone counselling service available 24 hours a day
· Pension scheme – Local Government Pension Scheme where the employer’s contribution is over 18% of base salary
