Advanced Design Technology Technician job summary
We are looking to recruit a Advanced Technician to join our Art and Design Technology teams. In this individual we would like to see a self-starter, someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and above all enjoys working with young people. The successful candidate will support the Heads of Department and Teaching staff in Art and Design Technology, planning ahead and preparing materials and equipment ready for lessons, in line with lesson plans.
Some workshop or transferable experience is essential with an ability to prioritise the requirements of the department and work independently to complete tasks is key to be successful in this role. Responsibilities will also include working alongside students in the classroom supporting their development of skills, maintaining adequate stock levels and ensuring that routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery is undertaken. A knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the relevant health and safety requirements and, most up to date guidance and risk assessments is essential.
Applicants do require literacy and numeracy skills (at least GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English) to qualify for this role. An up to date workshop accreditation is essential however, we are happy to facilitate this.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, who believes it is a privilege to be a part of their journey into adulthood, and who understands the challenges faced by young people growing up in today's world. Support staff are also part of our student coaching programme, being responsible for a group of students they can build relationships with and be the point of contact throughout the students’ time in school.
