Advanced Teaching Assistant job summary
The Governors at Barlby Bridge CP are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and knowledgeable Advanced Teaching Assistant (ATA). The successful candidate will be primarily based in Year 6, working under the direction of the class teacher in assisting in and contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of the learning process. A strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum is highly desirable; including the ability to learn and teach Year 6 specific grammar, writing and maths objectives. Full training and support will be provided. As an ATA, the successful candidate will also assist in the induction and development of a small team of support staff in school.
A proportion of the advertised hours will include a small amount of supervision in the afternoon Nursery session, and it is important that interested candidates are able to demonstrate flexibility to work across the whole primary age range.
Afterschool tutoring will be required as part of this role, in addition to the advertised weekly hours. These are flexible and can be agreed at interview / appointment.
The successful candidate will:
· Have significant experience of working with pupils and proven successful impact on learners
· Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a good standard of written English
· Be knowledgeable about the KS2 curriculum and be willing to develop a good understanding of specific Y6 objectives in grammar, writing and maths
· Hold the Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
· Demonstrate flexibility and initiative when teaching whole class and small groups of pupils
· Work effectively as a team, engaging well with different audiences and contributing effectively to the schools extra curricula offer.
