I have had the privilege of being the Headteacher of our school since September 2018. We have excellent relationships with our local community which mean our school really is at the heart of the village. Our children are proud of their community and take responsibility for sharing the work we do with others. We are actively involved in projects locally and nationally to spread key messages that we think are important to us in the world today. This includes environmental issues and humanitarian issues and our children are keen to 'be the change they want to see in the world'.
As a small school, staff feel fortunate to know each of our families and we provide a safe environment for your child to learn and grow. Our children know each other well and learn to care for one another over time. Children share activities with each other within their class and with other classes throughout the school. Our children participate in the Diocese of York Young Leaders Award to further develop their leadership skills and learn to apply these in a range of situations. Children's University with the University of Hull supports our children to engage in a wide range of learning opportunities in the surrounding areas and supports them to develop a range of interests.
We pride ourselves on placing Christian Values at the heart of our school curriculum. Each half term, 1 Christian Value becomes the focus for the school curriculum and teachers find exciting texts to share with the children to help demonstrate these values. Children explore the meaning of each Christian Value through a range of learning opportunities. Forest School is an important element of our school curriculum and all children actively participate in this each fortnight
In September 2019, school welcomed our very own dog. Simba is a cockapoo and is still a puppy but he is already a firm favourite with the children. You can read more about Simba, and see pictures of him, on his page of the website.
