After School Club Assistant job summary

An opportunity has arisen in our after-school club for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who is committed to and enjoys working with children. The after-school club provides an out of hours facility for pupils across all key stages immediately after the end of the school day.

Working 13 hours 45 mins per week - 3.00pm – 5:45pm Monday to Friday – term time, plus 2 out of 6 INSET days each academic year as directed.

Duties will include, working alongside colleagues to:

  • Assist in preparing after-school club facilities and activities to ensure quality standards agreed are met.
  • Supervise children in collecting food, being seated, clearing away crockery, moving to activities, in activity area and/or outdoor area as appropriate.
  • Establish good relationships with the pupils, encouraging cooperation and monitoring children’s wellbeing. Providing help and support to the pupils.
  • Encourage good behaviour by using praise and reward and actioning poor behaviour in line with the school policy.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the pupils – maintaining a register of the children attending, control access to other parts of the school, ensuring children understand action to be taken in case of a fire or emergency. Must have a good understanding of the health and safety policy in order to put it into practise.
  • Take pride in providing enjoyable activities for the pupils.
  • Considers the needs of pupils when making decisions relating to the after-school club.

You will demonstrate consistently high expectations of the pupils and will work closely within a team of colleagues to ensure the wellbeing of our children.

The role is based at Laughton All Saints' CofE Primary School.
