What skills and experience we're looking for

At Paxton, we are always looking for ways to extend and enrich our provision. In September, we launched Paxton's Wrap Around Care, Sunset (Afterschool Club) which will provide a seamless transition between home and school at the beginning of the school day through providing a fun filled provision with creative activities which are positive and purposeful and support children's social and emotional development.

You will deliver a planned and co-ordinated programme of activities, providing formal and informal learning opportunities for pupils. You will interact positively with pupils with a variety of needs, establishing good relationships and providing them with a positive role model. You will also help prepare a healthy light meal each day.

You will have excellent communication, planning and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills. You will be able to work well as part of a team and have the ability to use initiative and respond to situations appropriately, including those involving learning or incidences of behaviour. You will be able to use cooking equipment, and have an awareness of food hygiene and health and safety.

What the school offers its staff

Our new building is situated in the heart of our community and features fantastic indoor and outdoor PE and games spaces, as well as modern music and science classrooms. Following feedback from pupils, we have been busy transforming our Early Years play space, creating reading areas, quiet spaces and an outdoor sensory area. More recently we have just created two new Sensory Zones to provide a safe learning space for children with SEND and those with additional needs. These developments provide the space to ignite the children’s curiosity, capture their imagination and provide all learners with the opportunity to excel.

Our sector-leading teacher and curriculum development arm, Wandle Learning Partnership is home to English, Maths and Teaching School Hubs. We are the only Trust to have been accredited by the Department for Education to run all three types of Hubs under one roof. These hubs open up a world of opportunities for you to develop your career with us in a high quality and tailored way.

We have experts from across the education sector feeding into the trust pedagogy on a daily basis. As a member of staff of the Trust you will have opportunities to develop your subject knowledge and practice in order to develop your career and have an increasingly positive impact in your own classroom and across the school.

The Trust has also successfully created and received DFE Validation for the phonics programme Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, which is being used to teach children to learn and love to read in more than 4,500 schools in England and internationally and in February 2023 we became the 12th school to be awarded Champion school status.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
