After-school Manager job summary
We are looking for an After School Club Manager to join our friendly and committed team at St John’s Primary School in Wallingford. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to providing the highest standards in quality childcare, be able to lead a staff team, have good communication skills and a caring attitude.
In addition to this role, the school may be able offer additional hours working during the school day as a teaching assistant either supporting a class, working with small groups or one to one with a child with special educational needs.

St John’s Primary School is a well-regarded and successful one form entry primary school in the heart of the lovely market town of Wallingford. We are an academy and are part of the OPEN Umbrella Trust – a group of 4 forward thinking and collaborative primary schools in South Oxfordshire.
We aim to provide an exciting and stimulating curriculum for our children as well as many extra curricular opportunities and strive for excellence in all that we do. We are lucky to have a very supportive parent body at the school.
After-school Club
JACS, our after-school club, is extremely successful and well utilised, providing after school care for up to 33 St John’s children aged 4 – 11 years each day. JACs provides a caring and stimulating environment where children can relax, play with children from different year groups and have fun at the end of the school day.
The role
To plan, evaluate and deliver a varied programme of high quality play opportunities in a safe environment
To be responsible for implementing Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies
Ensure that all policies and procedures and Ofsted guidelines are followed
To promote inclusion
Line manage staff, organising rotas and cover for absence
To lead in the development of independent social skills
To undertake duties such as preparing snacks, tidying up, cleaning the club room and toys
To report children’s problems/achievements to parents as necessary and liaise with parents to enable the effective operation of the club.
Administer first aid
To assist in the specific medical care/needs of pupils as necessary
Maintain registers of attendance/absence and other child records
Maintaining stock and ordering supplies
The person
The ideal person for this role will:
Be trustworthy and have the ability to build positive relationships and empathise with young people
Be positive and resilient
Be discrete and respect confidentiality
Have the ability to communicate with parents, staff and students
Be able to use their initiative

Have experience of working flexibly
Ideally be qualified to NVQ level 3
Have experience of working with children
Have a first aid qualificaton o be willing to undergo training
