Art and Photography Technician job summary

The Visual Arts department is seeking to appoint an Art/Photo technician to work in our large department with great facilities, including a darkroom, phot studio and photography computer suite, alongside great Art facilities including a kiln and printing press.

The role involves preparing, setting out and clearing away resources and equipment, maintaining and reordering a large variety of stock as well as being responsible for general display in the department. Working with students in small groups or individually will also, at times, be required in photography. However, this is not the main role of the technician.

Being organised, forward thinking and able to work independently is essential to the role, alongside a knowledge of photography processes and basic photoshop skills. Training will be available for the successful candidate on any areas that are needed.

We are proud to be a ‘Gold’ Rights Respecting School recognising our commitment to upholding the rights of the child (UNCRC), a well-respected Sports College, and inclusive school gaining the Equalities Award. Our Rights Respecting status highlights our very real sense of community; a togetherness that permeates through daily school life, described by our recent inspection team as the ‘heartbeat’ of the school.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.

Please contact Vicky Ovens on 01243 871068 or email vicky.ovens@theregisschool.co.uk to arrange a visit to the school or a phone conversation.
