Art, Craft and Design Lead job summary
Do you consider yourself to be a dynamic and innovative leader of Art?
We have a unique opportunity to appoint a Leader of Art to teach Art, Craft and Design across Key Stages 3-5 with some small KS2 intervention within our Atelier provision. The position also requires a passion for working with local community arts projects.
You should be passionate about your subject and determined to impart knowledge, skills and understanding to the team and to all our young people, whilst exciting and engaging them in their learning. You will be driven and motivated to continually drive and improve the department, whilst understanding the importance of developing a positive and creative culture.
We are looking for:
An inclusive individual, with high expectations of their students, who is committed to maximising rates of progress and has innovative curriculum ideas to support all pupils
A Leader of Art who is committed to working with external artists, craftspeople and designers and projects with external organisations
Someone with a sense of humour, who understands the importance of developing a positive culture in our organisation.
Our art curriculum goes across both the Brune Park and Bay House sites, facilitates Art, Craft and Design education and experiences through the normal timetable, two Ateliers and working partnerships with organisations such as The Makers Guild, Gosport County Council, Gosport Search Museum and artists in residence. We have a strong commitment to building further relationships with external arts organisations and to deliver the Arts Award. The ability to also teach Graphic Design or Textile Design is desirable but not essential, however a second subject would be a distinct advantage as would experience of delivering the Arts Award. There may be future requirements for teaching Cross-MAT between the two art departments.
If you feel you share our values, have the vision and drive for excellence and want to be part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team, committed to ensuring that students fulfil their potential, then we would like to hear from you.

All successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks.

GFM is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this. Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS along with other employment checks. It is a criminal offence to apply for or accept a position working with children if you are excluded from such work by virtue of a court order or exclusion by the DBS. Although a criminal record involving offences against children is likely to debar you from this type of post, the existence of other criminal convictions will not necessarily be a bar to employment.
