Art & Hospitality/Food Technician job summary

We are seeking a proactive, organised, and enthusiastic Art & Hospitality Technician to support the effective delivery of practical lessons within our Art and Hospitality & Catering departments.

This varied and hands-on role is essential in ensuring that learning environments are safe, well-resourced, and fully prepared. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support practical activities, maintain equipment, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of both departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, clean, and organise equipment and resources across Art and Hospitality areas
  • Support practical lessons by preparing materials, ingredients, tools, and equipment
  • Manage stock levels, including ordering, checking deliveries, and liaising with suppliers
  • Support GCSE and vocational coursework, including NEA preparation and evidence gathering
  • Take and manage photographic evidence of student work for assessment purposes
  • Operate and maintain ceramic kilns safely, adhering to all health and safety procedures
  • Maintain specialist equipment and arrange repairs or servicing where needed
  • Provide guidance to staff and students on safe equipment use
  • Assist with displays, exhibitions, and departmental events
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (including COSHH, food hygiene, and kiln safety)
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient departmental operation
