ASD Hub Teaching Assistant job summary
In September 2022, we are moving to a new, state of the art school site and our pupil numbers will be increasing. The Governors and Head Teacher of Epinay Business & Enterprise School would like to appoint suitably qualified outstanding, experienced Teaching Assistants to join our staff team.
The successful candidates will have experience of working with students with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, with complex speech, language and communication needs that often require the use of alternative communication methods, for example PECCS and/or with complex sensory processing differences that require a customised environment and very high levels of support. You will have the energy and the vision to assist students throughout the school to help all students reach their full potential.
Applicants will have the energy and vision to ensure our students are happy, confident, independent learners who are prepared for adulthood. You will be able to support pupils of all ages and have the commitment to academic excellence and high classroom standards.
The ideal candidates will:
• be an experienced Teaching Assistant who has experience of working with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, across the primary and secondary stages;
• be an experienced Teaching Assistant who has experience of working with children and young people with complex speech, language and communication needs that often require the use of alternative communication methods, for example PECCS and/or with complex sensory processing differences that require a customised environment and very high levels of support;
• be an experienced Teaching Assistant who has worked in a specialist ASD provision;
• have experience of undertaking 1:1 support with identified pupils;
• have experience of undertaking small group learning activities with identified pupils;
• have experience of working with children in small groups;
• have experience of working with young people with special educational needs;
• be a committed team player;
• have the ability to engage and inspire pupils;
• be committed to Epinay’s ethos of high expectations.
