Aspiring or Lead Practitioner of Science job summary

Are you a passionate teacher looking for your next step? We are looking for a qualified, experienced teacher to join our academy as Lead Practitioner of Science.

You should be an outstanding practitioner of Science who can ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the subject area, through continuously developing and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an exceptional teacher ready to take on additional responsibilities.

This is a permanent role from April 2022.

Main Areas of Responsibility
The purpose of your role will be:

To raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole curriculum area and to monitor and support student progress.
To be accountable for student progress and development within the subject area.
To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others.
To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the department, in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies determined by the Governing Body and Principal of the Academy.
To be accountable for leading, managing and developing the subject/curriculum area.
To effectively manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources within the department to support the designated curriculum portfolio.
To act as QN. Faculty
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will:

Be a graduate in a relevant subject and DfES recognised Qualified Teacher Status.
Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice).
Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
Have knowledge of National curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4 and KS5
Understand the importance of having high expectations for all students, both of behaviour and academic achievement.
Understand nclusive provision and practices which offer equality of access to the curriculum for all students, including special educational needs, Spanish as an additional language and high achievers.
Have knowledge and experience of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students work.
Understand the importance of being a Tutor.
Qualified Lead Practitioner status, or be willing to work towards this.
