We are seeking to recruit, for as soon as possible, an enthusiastic, self-motivated, team-orientated Lead Chef, to join our successful catering team. The successful applicant should be able to work in a very busy and demanding environment and work well with the existing Chef Manager and six Catering Assistants, to cover all aspects of food preparation and delivery to our students, staff and visitors.
Contracted hours will be 42 hours per week, term time only plus 2 weeks to include cleaning and administrative duties, working from 06:00 to 15.00 Monday to Thursday and 06.00 to 14.30 on a Friday. This includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
This post is remunerated on LGPS Grade 8 Points 18-23, £29,269 - £32,076 pro rata, which equates to £15.21 - £16.67 per hour.
There will also be occasional evening functions and catering preparation for meetings and events.
Key responsibilities would include:
Prepare and cook meals from fresh ingredients and supporting the Chef Manager with the creation of new menus and creative food concepts
Assisting the Chef Manager making sure all food is prepared to the highest standards and prepared on time Follow school recipe specs and DfE guidance regarding healthy food in schools
Reporting to the Chef Manager on site
Maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene
Work independently and manage your own time effectively
Overseeing kitchen cleaning responsibilities to maintain hygiene standards
Complying with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations
Be proactive in managing kitchen stock and supplies.
The successful applicant would ideally have NVQ Food Hygiene Level 3, NVQ Training in Catering Level 3 or a commitment to undertake further training and development relevant to the role and be computer literate on Microsoft Word, with some knowledge of Excel.
