What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a motivated Assistant Head teacher leading on Inclusion and Pastoral provision, who will form part of the Senior Leadership team at the school. Brackenbury Primary is part of a Federation with Kenmont Primary School and Wendell Park Primary School. The federation schools work closely together and the AHT for Inclusion & Pastoral will work closely with their counterparts in the other schools. Our school is led on a day to day basis by our Head of School supported by a Deputy Head teacher and Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning). This Assistant Head position will support the leadership in driving school improvement with a focus on Inclusion and pastoral provision. The post holder will have the roles of the school’s SENDCO and DSL. There will be a 0.2 teaching commitment to this role, this enables the post holder to teach all the classes (on a rotational basis) working across the school and facilitates subject leadership time for class teachers.

We are seeking to appoint someone who….

  • Has relevant experience of leadership of SEND
  • Is an inclusive and inspiring teacher with a strong record of improving rates of progress
  • Is a committed, adaptable team player with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Will be accountable for raising standards and securing high quality provision for children with SEND / other vulnerabilities
  • Has the skills to implement change, line manage staff, use data effectively to monitor outcomes and highlight priorities for development as part of the school self-evaluation cycle
  • Has skills to be able to be responsible for SEND and Pastoral provision across the school
  • Has the knowledge to support the leadership team with leading on safeguarding

Is able to report to and work with Governors and other stakeholders
