Assistant Head of Faculty – Humanities RS or Geography Specialist job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed team and Head of Faculty who has clear plans on moving the faculty forward. The school values the importance of Humanities in our students’ education and as such, the department is well supported. The post would be suitable for someone who is a specialist in either Religious Studies or Geography which will form the the majority of the teaching alongside some humanities areas in key stage 3. There are exciting times ahead for the school with many new initiatives in place for September and so this would be a fantastic time to join both the school and the Humanities faculty.

As a middle leader, you will work as part of the wider Humanities faculty in the school, which has proven to be a strong successful department and you will be well supported by the Head of Faculty and senior leaders. Wellspring Academy Trust and Parkside School believe in investing in our staff. We have a strong CPD offer and all new staff will receive a supportive induction programme and this post may be of interest to an aspiring Head of Faculty.

If you are driven to ensure the highest possible standards of teaching and learning, progress and achievement, then we warmly invite you to apply and join our convivial team.

Our students are enthusiastic and enjoy interactive lessons from passionate teachers, they respond well to strong trusting relationships with staff. Having recently joined Wellspring Academy Trust, Parkside has a renewed focus on student development, both academically and in personal growth.

Wellspring Academy Trust and Parkside School believe in investing in our staff. This post may appeal to a teacher who has aspirations of senior leadership in the near future and there are training packages to develop future leaders as applicable. A number of our staff are involved in teaching development groups, teacher networks across the Trust and self-development in one of the NPQ programmes. We are keen to develop and grow our own staff.

Our vision for Parkside School is that Parkside School should visibly and substantively impact on the community it is embedded within. This impact should be important, meaningful and considerable. This means young people from Parkside should develop into well-rounded young people who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have a personal and specific hope for the future which they can articulate, believe in and share with others; students who can empathise, critique, protect, love, inspire, make, design, explore and understand; students who are willing to try things they have never done before, do things they don’t want to do and be willing to reinvent themselves to become the best that they can be.

The school is about to embark on a new coaching model as its main pastoral and relational tool alongside a change in school uniform and the introduction of enrichment into the timetabled curriculum. If this sounds exciting to you, please get in touch.

We encourage any applicant to come and visit the school or to book an informal phone conversation about this role with the Head of Faculty. Please contact Lindsey Rushworth (HOF) on lindsey.rushworth@parksideschool.net to arrange a suitable time.

We want all of our schools to make a positive contribution to the community that they are embedded within. This impact should be meaningful, considerable and lasting.

We want the young people of Parkside school to have every available opportunity to develop into well-rounded citizens who are equipped to make a positive contribution and who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have passionate hopes for their future; hopes that they can articulate, believe in and make real. Located in the picturesque village of Cullingworth, Parkside School is surrounded by rolling hills and dramatic countryside.

The village, three miles south of Keighley and seven miles west of central Bradford, is not only popular with commuters but also with tourists, walkers and cyclists who revel in some of the country’s most glorious scenery.

The locality is steeped in history; the Brontë Parsonage Museum and its famous literary collections lie less than five miles east.

Also on the doorstep is the Saltaire World Heritage Site; a Victorian model village that is home to Salts Mill, which itself boasts striking architecture, eateries and shopping.
