ASSISTANT HEAD TEACHER - ASD DESIGNATED SPECIALIST PROVISION MANAGER job summary
In response to the expansion of Endeavour Academy, the Leadership Team are seeking to appoint an Assistant Head Teacher. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced teacher who is looking for a new challenge and has experience of working within a special school or of leading SEND in a mainstream school. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Teacher to lead our new, 16 place Designated Specialist Provision (DSP), which is currently being set up with support from the local authority to meet the needs of children identified with ASD. The post will commence September 2019 and will be based at the Endeavour Academy site. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and managing the new ASD unit for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils. Support will be provided in the unit by 2 Teachers and Teaching Assistants, with additional support from a Speech and Language HLTA.
Due to the establishment of a new specialist provision (ASD) we are looking for a DSP manager with experience of working with pupils with ASD to lead this new provision in a secondary special school. This is an excellent opportunity to be a key member in the launch and implementation of the school’s new provision. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching and will have the opportunity to play a significant role in the strategic development of the DSP and the development of staff. As a manager of the provision you will be passionate about teaching students with ASD and maintaining high standards. You will also be well qualified and experienced with the ability to lead and inspire teams. Our aim is to ensure that the new DSP provides the highest standard of education for the students in its care and you will be pivotal in this.
There will be challenges but this is definitely an opportunity for a skilled professional to lead, develop creative solutions and be central to raising standards in a role which combines their own school and close working with other schools in the Federation.
We are looking for:
a dedicated and passionate manager who has resilience and a strong, positive work ethic
a Teacher with successful experience of managing an effective classroom environment to support student learning, particularly for students with SEND
a commitment to providing high quality lessons to engage, challenge and inspire our students
a colleague who is inspirational to colleagues and students and committed to sharing best practice
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Beverley Evans/Jo Southby for further discussion. Application forms can be accessed via Hayley Jobson Hayley.jobson@newhorizonsfederation.org.uk
