Assistant Head Teacher job summary

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you will have the opportunity to work alongside our excellent team of committed leaders, teachers and support staff and our enthusiastic, caring children. You will lead a key stage, subject or aspect of the school. The role will be class based with dedicated leadership time. The year group to be taught will be determined by the skills/experience of the successful candidate.

Bleak Hill is a large primary school with 495 children on roll and is in the process of expanding to three form entry. Bleak Hill currently has 4.24% of pupils eligible for free school meals. The school is full in almost all year groups and often oversubscribed. The number of pupils with identified learning disabilities has risen over recent school years. At Bleak Hill the proportion of children at SEN Support has risen to 11.3%. Five children have an EHCP.

We currently have 17 classes. There are three classes in Reception (3x30), Year 1 (3x25) and Year 4 (3x30) and two (x30) in all other Year Groups.

We are an inclusive school and have made considerable progress in developing our school aims which are reviewed annually. They direct us so that in our school we feel valued, secure and are given respect and we have the opportunity to experience success. Bleak Hill has a wide range of extra - curricular activities in across the school.

The staff work as a team, they communicate well with other colleagues and stakeholders.

Governors play an active role in the life of the school and carry out their duties effectively. They bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the school. Members of the knowledgeable Governing Body regularly attend training linked to school priorities. This enables them to provide appropriate levels of support and challenge.
