We are looking for someone dynamic, passionate, forward thinking and enthusiastic about education. We are

The successful applicant’s principal responsibilities will be Safeguarding and Transition. They will be a
member of the Safeguarding team as Deputy Safeguarding Lead with a view of them becoming the school’s
Designated Safeguarding Lead when ready. They will line manage colleagues who have responsibility for
Transition, PSHCE and elements of Safeguarding such as anti-bullying and e-safety. As DSL they will then
be the Strategic Lead for Safeguarding and the Safeguarding team. Alongside this you will be supporting the
Deputy Headteacher with parents, students and Personal Development.
Pastoral Team
Our Pastoral team is led by Nicki Oyler our Deputy Headteacher i/c Pastoral. We have 4 Houses namely
Angelou, Lovelace, Parks and Malala. Each Pastoral Lead is a teacher with a reduced teaching allocation.
Each Pastoral Lead has a full time Pastoral Assistant who is a non-teacher and supports the pastoral care of
the children within their House. More information on our House structure can be found on our website.
Safeguarding
Our Safeguarding Lead is Nicki Oyler who is supported by a highly skilled team of Safeguarding colleagues
including our Deputy Safeguarding Lead Mark Hitchen (AHT), the 4 Pastoral Leads and 2 support staff
colleagues (one based in the sixth form and one based in the main school). The successful colleague will be
Deputy Safeguarding Lead in September 2024 with a view of becoming Designated Safeguarding Lead when
ready.
Additionally, we have a TLR holder who would be line managed by the successful applicant who leads on our
anti-bullying work and also online safety. We have just been awarded Gold through the Anti-Bullying alliance
which evidences this work.
Transition
Successful transition is a key part of the school’s success in terms of students feeling happy and confident
when they join us in September and also the school ensuring its financial stability which we currently enjoy
through maintaining our pupil numbers. The successful candidate will line manage a TLR holder who will
work with them and the wider Admissions team to make transition successful.
Student and Parent Council
We have a very engaged and pro-active Parent Council which we would like to develop further. In line with
our third Key Priority around Leadership for Legacy, we would like out Student Council to evolve next year to
be more strategic in working with the whole school community to achieve our vision. The successful
candidate will lead on both of these and in turn work in collaboration with the Deputy Headteacher who is
leading on developing our community and parent relationships. We are currently working on the LPPA
Award.
We looking to appoint a highly visible Senior Leader who embodies and advocates our culture and vision.
It would be desirable (but not essential) to have a candidate with some Safeguarding and Pastoral
experience. We would also greatly value someone with a proven record in managing difficult conversations.
