Assistant Head Teacher job summary

Sladewood Academy is the newest school within SAND Academies Trust and caters for pupils aged 4-11 years with a range of special needs including Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autism, Communication and Interaction Delays, Global Learning Delay, attachment and trauma related needs and a range of other complex needs. Sladewood is a Relational School where Ace Aware, Trauma Informed and Restorative Practice are at the heart of all we do, ‘Together we Thrive’.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Head who will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support and shape a new school. It is expected that the Assistant Headteacher will have leadership and management qualities. In carrying out the professional duties of an Assistant Headteacher, and as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), s/he must feel confident to work with, and support, all the staff of the school across the age phases and a wide range of professionals within the Education, Health and Social Services.

The role is full time and includes a teaching commitment of approx. 2/2.5 days per week with PPA cover. Please see the job description for a detailed outline of the main duties and responsibilities of this position together with essential requirements for the role.
